Applications are open already. Me and Jiancheng have been discussing who to recruit to join our team. I think we have confirm the number of people in our team. 5! Hopefully everyone will bring a different specialised skillset to the name. Anyway, got quite a few ppl interested already.

I am going to start on this project after my exams. the basic idea is to create a new class of transportation by linking people up. designed a rudimentary logo. It looks much much better than smarty attapy haha. have to congrat myself for this/ at least got improvement. oh ya/ the people symbol right, i can't get it changes to the purple colour i want. seems like illustrator dun allow you to change the colour. maybe i will photoshop it later

The logo I made for Smarty Attapy. Its quite ugly hehe. need to improve on my photoshop. Maybe at that time, if I had known about illustrator, it will have looked better.
As for the erm....weird corny name, we have to attribute Bob the builder for that.

The mess of wires under our house. we stored all the PCB under the house. each PCB has to talk to one another so there are many wires running around. once we stacked up the 2 stories of PCB, it was impossible to do any changes to the first storey. if we were to bring this to MRT sure kenna mistaken for terrorist.

Once we stack the display level, we prayed that nothing will stop working coz debugging will kill us. Luckily everything worked...

NUSSU's new logo?

Found this logo from my first term in EXCO (2004-2005). At that time, an external company, albeit ran by NUS students, were commission to do a new logo for NUSSU. These 3 logos are already among the 2nd version. The first version was radically different and the Exco thought that we should stick to tradition. After all Quaker man (the oat brand) took 10 years to change their logo, how can NUSSU do so in only 1 year. Then last year, a competition was held for a new logo. Of course up to now the winning entry has not been used. I am not sure why. But I guess it is the same reason. Too different.

I think I saw a new logo that has slight change of fonts. Hope Aloy will come up with a logo and set it in stone for ages to come :)

Sparkles™ is a tray of tablet sized bathing solutions like shampoo, bath soap, facial wash etc. It is highly portable and convenient to use.

Target Customers
Our customer is a person who has a need to bath outside the comfort of his own home. He can be a sport athlete whom has just finished his workout or a typical student staying over at a chalet. We also plan to target the military market.

The Market
The soap market is a high volume, low growth market. Global demand is forecast to grow at a low CAGR of below 2% from 2005 to 2008. Most of that growth will come from Asia, which accounts for 50% of global demand. The market size of our product is estimated to be $9.6 million in Singapore.

Sales
We will be distributing our product through retail shops. Also we will be selling direct to business that have contact with our customer profiles. These businesses are hotels, the military, airports, stadiums and resorts.

Investment

• Low start-up Cost: $60,000
Sparkles is a convenient product that caters to the users’ need. It is built around a simple product with a simple and already well understood manufacturing process. Thus we have a very low start up cost.

• High returns - 72 % gross margin
Our product prototype cost $0.84 to produce. We expect the cost to drop after we enter mass production. Our market research shows that our customers are willing to pay $3.00 for our product.

EG1415 Engineering Professionalism: Nuclear Energy Safety, Waste Disposal, Ethics and Recommendations

Introduction
Nuclear power has been in existence for a long time. The first nuclear power plant in the United States came online in 1957[1]. Currently nuclear power produces 20% of the world’s energy and is expected to decline to 12% in the next decade [2]. However recent developments have caused new debate on whether to turn to nuclear energy. Mainly they are effects of environmental pollution and climate change due to carbon emissions from fossil fuel burning, rising prices of fuel, rising demand of rapidly developing nations, implementation of carbon emission tax and energy security. However the old problems of nuclear power still exist 50 years after the first nuclear power plant came online. Waste disposal of spent nuclear fuel remains a problem without a real solution. Safety issues over radiation emitted by nuclear power plants still exist. The vulnerability for nuclear power plants and their potential to be used as weapons were also highlighted after 9/11. Finally nuclear power can also lead to the production of nuclear weapons since the reprocessed fuel can be used in bombs.
In this report, we will examine both the pull and push factors surrounding nuclear energy and the ethics of nuclear energy. We also give our recommendation on the large scale adoption of nuclear power and examine if nuclear power is feasible in the context of Singapore.
